Each Tarot card is carefully crafted. We preserved the original symbolism, emphasized the psychological meanings of Tarot cards, took their position on the Tree of Life into consideration, and rendered the  illustrations more immersive.

The Enlightenment Tarot deck is both traditional and innovative. The deck draws upon authentic Tarot symbolism found in decks such as Marseille and Rider-Waite, but the illustrations are more immersive, and modern psychological titles contribute to a contemporary Tarot experience.

Each Tarot card represents a power of consciousness. The titles reflect either the power of consciousness, its positive application, or the corresponding positive experience. For instance, the Attainment card represents the power of union, its positive use is reconciliation, and the corresponding positive experience is a sense of union.

The psychological framework is based on the Tree of Life and the four levels of humans expression: spiritual (wands), creative-feely (cups), intellectual (swords), and bodily (pents). The Enlightenment Tarot cards derive their meanings from their position on the Tree of Life and take the four levels of human expression into consideration.

The original purpose of Tarot was the facilitation of enlightenment. Fortune telling came much later. We gave our deck the title Enlightenment Tarot to honor its origin.

The Enlightenment Tarot deck sports four advantages:

→ The Enlightenment Tarot complies to original Tarot symbolism but has immerse and captivating illustrations.

→ The Enlightenment Tarot is Tree of Life compatible and the cards derive their meanings from their position on the Tree of Life.

→ The Enlightenment Tarot cards have psychological titles.

→ The minor arcana have psychological titles, too, for example, the Six of Cups has the title Decision.

→ The court cards have psychological profiles, for example, the Queen of Wands stands for a willful woman: generous or stubborn, resolute or revengeful, intense or tyrannical, magnetic or dangerous.

Querents come to Tarot readings because they face challenges. We can categorize challenges into two types: adversity or resistance during undertakings. Psychological Tarot readings steer clear of fortune telling and instead, trace the querent’s challenge back to inner weaknesses or inner demons.

The Enlightenment Tarot is based on an objective, holistic psychological framework. The origin of this framework is the Tree of Life in the four levels of human expression: spiritual (wands), creative-feely (cups), intellectual (swords), and bodily (pents). The Tree of Life is an ancient glyph of the totality of the human self. The Tree of Life goes beyond classical and positive psychology and includes enlightenment – the evolution of consciousness, which will give access to higher, unknown aspects of the self, like the soul and the higher self. Traditional Tree-of-Life jargon is cryptic and XXX. We translated XXX terms into modern, easy-to-understand terms.

Each Tarot card represents a power of consciousness. A power of consciousness can be applied positively and negatively, which produces positive or adverse internal experiences. Here are the core meanings of the Tower/Awakening card:
      – Power of consciousness: Drive
      – Constructive use: Purification
      – Unconstructive use: Excessive ambition
      – Favorable internal experience: Awakening
      – Adverse internal experience: Upheaval

Tarot cards illustrate the thirty-two paths of wisdom of the Tree of Life. These are the ten Sephiroth and the twenty-two paths connecting the Sephiroth.

The old-school titles of the minor arcana state the obvious. For example, the title Ten of Swords reiterates the ten swords in the picture. Instead, we gave the minor arcana proper, psychological titles. For example, the Six of Cups has the title Decision.

Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum.

Oversimplified, there are two types of Tarot decks: Tarot decks that express the imagination and artistic talent of their authors and traditional Tarot decks that are designed according to the language of consciousness. The first kind lacks the language of consciousness and ageless wisdom. Traditional decks, like the Marseille deck, lack artistic quality. This is where the Enlightenment Tarot comes in: It conforms to the language of consciousness and maintains the original Tarot symbolism, but the illustrations have a real or rather dream-like feel, which eases Tarot meditation and helps the Tarot reader and querent get in a meditational mood.

For historical reasons, some of the titles of the major arcana are blinds, like the ‘Devil’, the ‘Hanged Man’, or ‘Death’. The Death card doesn’t depict death at all. In fact, it stands for the opposite, which is immortality. The skeleton in the picture symbolizes our soul that transmigrates along the stream of its incarnations (the river) toward enlightenment (the rising sun at the horizon). On its way, it reaps wisdom, understanding, and empathy. Some titles also have negative connotations. The title Devil produces associations like evil, hell, and condemnation. The title Hanged Man makes us think of executions. A chariot is a war machine. For this reason we replaced all titles of the major arcana with psychological terms.

The Enlightenment Tarot cards are made in Germany. They are made of laminated chromosulfate cardboard, and have the durability of casino cards. If you take care of them, they should last as long as books. The box is made of 800 g cardboard, covered with 115 g chromo paper, sporting a
      scragtchproof foil lamination.

The deck and the box are made of paper. They have a very thin foil lamination. The company that prints the deck has a Blue Angel Certification, which is a German ecolabel. The company that prints the boxes has a FSC certification (www.fsc.org), which supports responsible forestry. Both the deck and the cards can be recycled.

Tarot cards depict positive states of mind. The pictorial symbolism of Tarot cards corrects erroneous thoughts and negative imaginations and takes the observer to a positive state of mind.
